Starting November 1st, GeekWire and Vittana are hosting a competition to discover the Northwest’s most generous tech company. The team that raises the most money during the month of November will be honored on stage at the GeekWire Gala, December 6th. Click here to jump to the details.
Vittana is graduating a generation beyond poverty through student loans to youth in the developing world. Our loans come directly from small lenders like you through our website. With the help of our lenders, we have made loans to more than 6,000 students and continue to maintain a 99% repayment rate. Making a loan through Vittana gives you the chance to use your money to change the lives of students around the world — students like Ana Lizbeth Aburto Salgado.
Ana Lizbeth dreamed of becoming a programer. She was attending a top school in Nicaragua but her family couldn’t support her. Determined to make it, Ana found two jobs as a receptionist and began taking classes at night. A few months later, with little sleep and the stress of two jobs, she was sick from exhaustion.
Ana Lizbeth’s dream could have ended there, but because of a $713 Vittana Loan, she was able to graduate and is now earning twice as much, going from $5 a day to $9 a day. She’s already fully repaid her loan. But, what makes Ana most proud is achieving her mother’s dream of learning to think beyond her home and become a working professional.
Now, Ana is expecting her own child, “This will give me the power to give my children a better education and a good home.”
